The National Universities Commission (NUC) has issued an operational licence to Transatlantic University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Umuchukwu, Anambra State, clearing it to begin academic activities. The licence was presented in Abuja to the university’s founder, Dr. Godwin Maduka, after the institution met the commission’s requirements for operation. The university plans to begin admissions into three faculties with 17 approved academic programmes. The institution says it will focus on medical education, health research and the study of traditional African medicine. Its management also said it has recruited medical professionals, researchers and academics to support teaching and research.
