Emotional Sobriety: Choosing Self-Control Over Impulse
Emotional sobriety means recognising strong feelings without allowing them to control your choices. Loneliness, stress, anger and rejection are real, but they do not have to override your values or commitments. Practise naming your emotions before reacting. Build the strength to sit with discomfort instead of seeking immediate relief, and remember that intense feelings are not permission to act impulsively. Scripture reminds us that God gives us power, love and self-control, not fear. By His grace, I can honour my convictions and treat sex as sacred.
