Ghana Beat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 to Reach 2027 Women’s World Cup Intercontinental Playoff

Ghana’s Black Queens fought back from a goal down to beat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in Casablanca and secure Africa’s intercontinental playoff ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Inès Konan gave Côte d’Ivoire an early lead from the penalty spot after a VAR review. Ghana improved after the break, with Princess Marfo heading in the equaliser from a corner in the 58th minute. A second VAR review awarded Ghana a late penalty for handball, and Josephine Bonsu converted to complete the comeback. The Black Queens held on despite losing Doris Boaduwaa, Evelyn Badu and Susan Ama Duah to injuries. Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face South Africa in the other playoff tie.
