Igala Community Seeks Explanation Over Kogi AGILE School Project Allocation
The Igala community has called on the Kogi State Government and AGILE project authorities to explain the distribution of World Bank-supported secondary school construction projects across the state. The community said Kogi Central received 12 of the 28 proposed projects, while Kogi East received nine and Kogi West received seven. It argued that the allocation appears uneven when compared with the number of local government areas and the population figures cited by stakeholders. It is asking authorities to publish the needs-assessment reports, school-selection criteria and other technical documents used for the allocation. The community said transparency would clarify whether factors such as enrolment, infrastructure gaps, poverty levels, distance to schools and girls’ education needs guided the decisions. The group also urged Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to ensure fairer representation in state appointments and development projects. It stressed that it does not oppose projects in any district but wants public resources shared according to clear, verifiable and equitable criteria.
