Charles V. Payne is an American financial journalist and the host of Making Money with Charles Payne on Fox Business. Born on November 15, 1962, he previously served in the United States Air Force and studied at Minot State University and Central Texas College. Payne began his Wall Street career as an analyst at E. F. Hutton in 1985. He founded stock-market research firm Wall Street Strategies in 1991 and later joined Fox Business as a contributor in 2007. He became host of Making Money with Charles Payne in 2014 and has also written a book on stock investing. In 1999, Payne settled an SEC case over stock-promotion disclosure allegations without admitting or denying wrongdoing. Fox Business also suspended him in 2017 during an investigation into a sexual-assault allegation; he denied the allegation, and the suspension was later lifted. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and has two children. Estimates of his net worth vary, with some reports placing it between $10 million and $12 million.
