IOM Assisted 17.8 Million People in 2025 as Global Humanitarian Crises Worsened

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) says it provided humanitarian assistance to 17.8 million people across 170 countries and territories in 2025, despite worsening conflicts, disasters and funding shortages. Its latest humanitarian report said major emergency operations focused on Gaza, Haiti, Myanmar, Ukraine and the Sahel. The agency provided emergency shelter to 7.3 million people, carried out 4.2 million primary healthcare consultations, and delivered water, sanitation and hygiene support to 5.1 million people. IOM said its data also informed 21 humanitarian response plans, helping governments and aid agencies identify communities most in need. The agency warned that displacement and humanitarian needs are rising as available funding continues to shrink.
