Lawanson Inaugurated as FOSSU Chief Whip, Pledges Accountability and Action
The Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union recently inaugurated Comrade Lawal Abdulrazaq, known as Lawanson, as its new Chief Whip. Stakeholders say the move will strengthen parliamentary leadership and boost student representation across Oyo’s tertiary institutions. In his inaugural speech, Lawanson called the role both an honour and a heavy responsibility. He pledged to uphold the union’s constitution, enforce strict parliamentary procedure, and guard the integrity of the legislative arm. He also warned against a “post-inauguration comfort zone” and urged immediate action. He thanked union leaders, zonal coordinators, patrons, and members for their support and vowed to work with the National Secretariat and Council. He urged public and private partners to invest in student development, calling students the “strategic assets” essential for Oyo State’s future.
