LilWin Explains Why Nollywood Stars Halted Filming at Ghana’s Water Village
Ghanaian filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, known as LilWin, said several Nollywood actors declined to return to Nzulezu after three days of filming because they were worried about the 40-minute boat journey to the community. Nzulezu, in Ghana’s Western Region, is built on stilts above a lagoon and is central to the storyline of LilWin’s upcoming film, “Nzulezu: A Journey to Africa.” He said moving the production elsewhere would have disrupted the project. LilWin said he understood the actors’ concerns following the April 2024 boat accident that killed Nollywood actor Junior Pope and four crew members in Delta State. The film features Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwo, Mike Ezuruonye, Charles Awurum, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko.
