WAEC Affirms Zero Leakage in 2026 WASSCE Despite Delivery Delays

The West African Examinations Council has stated there was no question-paper leak in the 2026 WASSCE. Its Head of Nigeria Office, Amos Dangut, made this assurance during a visit by National Association of Nigerian Students leaders to WAEC’s Lagos headquarters. Several states experienced late sittings for Mathematics and Agricultural Science after a fatal accident on the Gombe-Yola highway disrupted logistics. WAEC attributed the delays in delivering papers and answer booklets to those unforeseen operational challenges. Dangut said recent innovations, including enhanced cyber monitoring, greatly reduced malpractice. He added that any glitches were detected and corrected swiftly, ensuring candidates’ performances were not affected.

Zero leakage claims sound reassuring, but past hiccups in logistics suggest we should remain cautious before celebrating.

Students and schools should document any exam paper delays and report promptly to support WAEC's investigations in future assessments.
