UK Passport Intervention: Interior Ministry Says No Fees Beyond Official Charges
The Ministry of Interior says Nigerians using the special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom should not pay charges beyond the official passport fees. A five-year passport costs $150, while a 10-year passport costs $230, excluding bank charges. The ministry said neither it nor the Nigeria Immigration Service has introduced additional fees. The exercise was introduced to give Nigerians in the UK more options for passport applications and processing. The ministry said it is consulting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address reported inconveniences. Applicants are also encouraged to use the contactless biometric passport application system.
