Watch: Handcuffed Woman Wriggles Out of Police Cruiser and Escapes

Watch: Handcuffed Woman Wriggles Out of Police Cruiser and Escapes — 1 of 5
1 / 5

A Michigan woman slipped out of a half-open police car window while still handcuffed and made a daring getaway. She had been arrested for a parole violation after officers found her in a parked vehicle at an abandoned business, local reports say. Footage shows her scanning the area before wriggling headfirst through the rear window with her hands behind her back. She then dropped to the street and ran off as officers searched nearby vehicles. The escape went unnoticed until an officer tapped the window and discovered the seat was empty. She remains at large and now faces new charges for fleeing police and a suspected home invasion that occurred shortly after her flight. Authorities are continuing their investigation and searching for the woman, who was not publicly identified at the time of her escape.

How do you think the police overlooked the risk of a half-open window and allowed her to slip out so easily?

Do you know if officers had clear guidelines on securing vehicle windows during transport?

Not sure it was just the window – maybe it's more about understaffing or stretched resources causing lapses.

It seems surprising she managed to wriggle free despite being handcuffed behind her back and under officer watch.

Maybe she planned that escape from moment one rather than officers simply being careless.

Police should review vehicle protocols and ensure windows roll completely up before transporting any detainee.
