FG Says Kuwait’s Restriction on Nigerian Domestic Workers Is Not a New Ban
The Federal Government has said Kuwait did not recently impose a new ban on recruiting Nigerian domestic workers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that Nigeria’s embassy in Kuwait had requested a suspension years ago over concerns about the welfare, protection and working conditions of Nigerian domestic workers. It said the measure remains in place to protect Nigerians seeking work in Kuwait. Nigeria and Kuwait are now working on a framework for fair recruitment, legal safeguards and decent working conditions.
