Iroha Urges Super Falcons, Flying Eagles to Seal World Cup Qualifying Routes

Former Nigeria defender Benedict Iroha has urged the Super Falcons to stay focused when they face Cameroon in the 2026 WAFCON quarter-final in Casablanca on Sunday, 9 August. He said victory would secure a place in the semi-finals and qualify Nigeria for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Nigeria have won 12 of their previous 25 meetings with Cameroon, but Iroha warned the Falcons not to rely on their superior head-to-head record. He said they must be prepared for Cameroon’s physical approach after Nigeria’s surprise opening defeat to Malawi. Iroha also called on the Flying Eagles to beat Burkina Faso in the WAFU B U-20 final in Yamoussoukro. Nigeria lost 1-0 to Burkina Faso in the group stage, and a win in the final would earn the team a place at the 2027 U-20 AFCON, the route to the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
