James 1:25: Put What You Learn Into Practice

James teaches that hearing God’s word is not enough. We are called to put it into practice. He compares a doer of the word to someone who looks carefully into a mirror and continues to live by what they have seen. That person, James says, will be blessed in what they do. The Sea of Galilee receives water from the Jordan River and also lets it flow out. The Dead Sea receives water but has no outlet. In the same way, vibrant believers do not only take in Scripture; they put it into action and give to others through their daily choices. The message is simple: do what you learn.
