Psychology: Meaning, Major Branches and Everyday Uses

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. It helps us understand how people think, feel and act, including both mental processes and observable actions. Its major branches include clinical psychology, which addresses mental health conditions; cognitive psychology, which studies memory, thinking and language; developmental psychology, which examines changes across life; and social psychology, which explores how people and groups influence one another. Psychology is used in mental health care, relationships, schools and workplaces. It can help people manage stress, communicate better, support learning and improve daily wellbeing.
