My Wife Earns More Than Me, and It Made Our Marriage Stronger
Thirteen years into marriage, I have learned that partnership matters more than traditional ideas about who must provide. I was raised to believe that a man should carry every financial responsibility, but a failed business deal and the arrival of our twins challenged that belief. When my wife noticed I was struggling, she sent me more than ₦1 million to support my business. Her event business later grew to the point where she earned more than I did. Rather than feel threatened, I learned to see her success as a win for our family. We have also had difficult conversations about work, parenting and timing. Those experiences taught me that love alone is not enough. Patience, honest communication, respect and choosing each other through hard seasons have kept our marriage strong.
