Zambia to Face Algeria in Final WAFCON 2026 Warm-Ups Before Clash with Super Falcons

Zambia’s Copper Queens will take on Algeria in two friendlies on 19 and 22 July as final preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The team will leave for Morocco on the same flight after concluding their Algeria camp in mid-July. Drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Malawi and Egypt, Zambia open against Egypt on 28 July at Stade Olympique in Rabat. They then meet the Super Falcons on 1 August at Stade El Barid, before wrapping up group play against Malawi on 5 August. The Copper Queens are set to make their fifth WAFCON appearance when the tournament kicks off in Morocco.

I bet they'll turn up the heat in Algeria and stride into Morocco brimming with confidence.

It seems the Copper Queens might be testing their depth rather than sharpening tactics in Algeria, considering both matches are mere warm-ups.

I get that warm-up games build momentum, but skipping tougher opponents before Super Falcons clash could leave them underprepared.

A solid approach would be to analyze each friendly's performance metrics, then tailor training sessions based on those specific weaknesses.
