Saudi Arabia Removes ‘Greater Israel’ Lesson and Antisemitic Content From Textbooks
Saudi Arabia has removed a school lesson that alleged Israel planned to expand from the Nile River to the Euphrates to create a “Greater Israel.” The lesson, titled “The Zionist Danger,” had appeared in Hadith textbooks for Grades 10 to 12. A July 2026 curriculum review by an international education-monitoring group says Saudi Arabia has continued revising lessons on Israel, Zionism, religious minorities and jihad. A Grade 11 history text reportedly replaced “the Zionist enemy” with “the Israeli occupation,” while another removed the statement that Muslims would never give up Jerusalem. The review found that examples previously classified as antisemitic had been removed from the latest textbooks. However, some materials still describe Israel as an occupying state, and Israel remains absent from several curriculum maps.
