Sultan Calls for Probe Into Killing of Igbo Muslim Army Officer
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on the Federal Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces to investigate the killing of an Army officer, Col. Abdussalam Ude. The Sultan, who is also President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, said authorities must establish the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death and bring anyone responsible to justice. He also raised concerns about alleged discrimination and hostility against Igbo Muslims in the South-East. He urged Nigerians to reject hate speech, protect religious minorities and promote peaceful coexistence.
