Operation Kosaye: How Lagos and Ogun Forces Are Denying Criminals Safe Havens

Operation Kosaye is a coordinated security offensive by the Nigeria Police in collaboration with Ogun and Lagos States. It targets forests, border settlements and ungoverned areas along the busiest economic corridor in the country. Its intelligence-led approach has led to the rescue of kidnapped victims, the arrest of suspects and the recovery of weapons. Governor Dapo Abiodun describes the operation as the cornerstone of his security doctrine, emphasising inter-state collaboration to deny criminals safe havens. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also pledges continued support through the state security trust fund. Since its launch at Iperu-Remo, Operation Kosaye has dismantled criminal camps, destroyed illegal settlements and boosted public confidence. It combines aerial surveillance, community policing and sustained inter-agency cooperation to keep the corridor safe. Built on years of investment in security infrastructure, Operation Kosaye may become a blueprint for other states aiming to secure their borders and protect citizens.
