Retired Officers, Ex-Minister Arraigned Over Alleged 2025 Coup Plot Against Tinubu

Retired Officers, Ex-Minister Arraigned Over Alleged 2025 Coup Plot Against Tinubu

The Federal Government has arraigned several retired military officers, a serving police inspector and civilians at the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Court filings accuse the suspects of conspiracy to commit treason, terrorism financing, failure to disclose security intelligence and money laundering linked to a 2025 plot to destabilise the state. Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva is named in the charge sheet and remains at large. Investigations began months ago after military inquiries into officers suspected of coup involvement. Proceedings will continue as prosecutors present their evidence. The case has drawn nationwide attention due to its significance for Nigeria’s security and political stability.
