Court Bars NBC from Punishing Broadcasters for Personal Views
Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an interim injunction against the National Broadcasting Commission. The order stops NBC from using its Formal Notice to threaten or sanction TV and radio stations or presenters for expressing personal opinions as facts, intimidating guests, or failing to maintain neutrality. The suit was filed by SERAP and the Nigerian Guild of Editors. The court has adjourned the substantive hearing of the motion to June 1, 2026.
