Supreme Court Rejects David Mark’s Bid to Delay ADC Leadership Ruling
The Supreme Court has refused Senator David Mark’s request for a stay of execution of an Appeal Court decision that led INEC to derecognize his leadership of the Action Democratic Congress. The dismissal followed a withdrawal of the application by Mark’s counsel, Jibril Okutekpa, SAN. He argued that INEC’s interpretation of the Appeal Court order had left the party without recognised leaders. The court has ordered an accelerated timetable, including shortened deadlines for filing briefs, ahead of a substantive hearing set for April 22, 2026. The dispute began with a suit by former ADC Deputy National Chairman Nafiu-Bala Gombe challenging Mark and Rauf Aregbesola’s roles. INEC has held off recognising either faction pending the final court decision.
