According to Freeze, the scandal weighed heavily on the actor and he never bounced back. Freeze argued that some people walk away knowing it will hurt you most. He believes Alex lost the strength to fight when his relationship fell apart and that contributed to his battle with cancer. The couple had announced wedding dates for November 2021 in Imo and Lagos before their engagement ended later that year. Fancy later issued and then contested a public apology, accusing Alex of manipulative behaviour. Leaked audio clips show both sides sharing their version of events.
