Michael Kayode Commits to Brentford with New Deal Until 2032

Michael Kayode Commits to Brentford with New Deal Until 2032

Michael Kayode has signed a long-term contract extension at Brentford, keeping the Nigerian full-back at the Premier League club until June 2032 with an option for a further year. Kayode said he feels part of a family at Brentford and is thrilled to continue his journey. “I have amazing relationships that make me really like coming in each morning to train and have fun with my team-mates, the staff and all the people around,” he explained. Head coach Keith Andrews praised Kayode’s impact, calling his development “really, really impressive” and describing him as “a joy to be around and to coach.” Since moving from Fiorentina for €18m last year, the 21-year-old has made 44 appearances, scored once, provided two assists and earned a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.

Brentford have tied him down until 2032; that long stretch fit spark doubts if his performance dips or staff change.

I'm not convinced that such a lengthy contract serves the player or club well; it could limit flexibility down the line.

Including performance incentives and review clauses can help both Kayode and Brentford maintain motivation and protect against unforeseen issues.
