Presidency Doubts Peter Obi’s One-Term Pledge for 2027
The presidency has challenged former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi’s vow to serve a single term if he wins in 2027. Bayo Onanuga, the presidential adviser on information and strategy, said Obi’s promise lacks credibility. Onanuga pointed to Obi’s history with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He recalled how Obi once placed himself under a self-curse and swore loyalty to the party before later quitting. In a post on X, Onanuga argued that Obi’s shifting allegiances cast doubt on any pledge he makes. “If you believe Peter Obi’s promise to serve only one term as president, you’ll believe anything,” he wrote.
