NSC, NFF Form Welfare Committee to Support Super Falcons’ WAFCON 2026 Campaign

NSC, NFF Form Welfare Committee to Support Super Falcons’ WAFCON 2026 Campaign

The National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation have set up a seven-member Welfare Committee to oversee the Super Falcons’ well-being during their WAFCON 2026 title defence in Morocco. The panel is chaired by NFF Executive Board member Aisha Falode, with Ruth David as Secretary. Other members include Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Babagana Kalli, Emeka Iyama, Aderonke Tinuoye and Tobechukwu Oluchi. NSC Director General Bukola Olopade said President Tinubu and the First Lady are personally committed to a hitch-free campaign, free from financial disputes. NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi described the move as a landmark collaboration, marking the first dedicated welfare committee for the Falcons. Nigeria will open its WAFCON 2026 campaign against Malawi on 28 July at Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium. The tournament runs from 26 July to 16 August.

It's interesting they picked only seven members when the team's needs during a major tournament can be so diverse and demanding.

I dey wonder if this committee will really do more than just paperwork before the tournament kicks off.

They should establish clear feedback channels for players and staff to report issues quickly, ensuring the committee addresses concerns effectively.
