Political Thugs Disrupt ADC Young Women’s Forum Inaugural Meeting in Rivers

Suspected political thugs stormed the ADC Young Women’s Forum inaugural meeting in Alesa, Eleme LGA, Rivers State. They dispersed supporters and destroyed canopies, loudspeakers, chairs, and other equipment. The attackers claimed the organisers lacked approval from the Independent National Electoral Commission and local authorities. ADC Young Women’s Forum national coordinator Atosemi Oma-Uwame said the gathering was non-campaign and intended only to empower young women in her constituency. Oma-Uwame condemned the incident as an attempt to stifle democracy ahead of the elections. She clarified the group’s aim is to promote gender balance within the party and urged young women to participate in politics and contest for positions without relying on male approval.
