Sanwo-Olu Orders Round-the-Clock Clean-Up as Lagos Waste Backlog Grows

Sanwo-Olu Orders Round-the-Clock Clean-Up as Lagos Waste Backlog Grows

Governor Sanwo-Olu has directed a rapid scale-up of waste evacuation operations across Lagos State. He has instructed LAWMA, LASEPA, the Ministry of the Environment and other agencies to work round the clock to clear accumulated refuse and restore normalcy. The administration acknowledged residents’ concerns over mounting waste, noting that Lagos generates roughly 13,000 tonnes daily. Additional resources have been deployed and strategic measures are being rolled out to boost collection and disposal efficiency. Officials say progress is already visible in many areas. While tackling the immediate backlog, the government is also investing in long-term waste management infrastructure. Citizens are urged to dispose of refuse responsibly and avoid obstructing drains and designated collection points.
