Watch: Odegaard’s Errant Header Strikes Police Officer at Arsenal Title Parade
Martin Odegaard found himself in a spot of bother at Arsenal’s victory parade in north London. The captain headed a ball from the top of the double-decker bus and it veered off course, landing on a police officer’s head below. Nearly a million supporters lined the streets, climbing bus stops and rooftops as red smoke from flares filled the air. Teammates laughed and joked, “Arrest him!” while Odegaard ducked to avoid detection. The Metropolitan Police made 16 arrests for disorderly behaviour, drug use and assaults on emergency workers. Officers dealt with crowd surges and minor clashes. The London Fire Brigade also assisted about 75 people with height rescues and flare-related alarms. Unfazed by the mishap, Odegaard rejoined the celebrations as Arsenal fans cheered on the club’s first league title in almost twenty years.
