Haruna Bashir, a Kano resident who lost his wife and six children in a deadly attack in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, has remarried during the Kano State mass wedding. Bashir was among 1,500 couples married at the ceremony organised by the Kano State Government. The Kano Hisbah Board said he had largely withdrawn from people after the loss but is gradually rebuilding his life. His wife, Fatima Abubakar, and their six children were killed after assailants reportedly broke into their home in January 2025. Police arrested three principal suspects, including a family member. The state government also said it supported Bashir’s Umrah and Hajj trips and provided him with a home at Amana City as he begins a new chapter.
