I Sponsored Our Marriage, Then Faced Pregnancy and Motherhood Alone
I entered marriage hoping for friendship, partnership and a shared future. Instead, I felt increasingly isolated. My husband became suspicious of my movements, calls and friendships. He withdrew emotionally, avoided honest conversations and often treated me like someone he could not trust. We tried counselling, but the problems continued. I supported his immigration process and hoped we would build a life together abroad. When I became pregnant, I expected joy and support. Instead, there were more accusations, conflict and long periods of silence. I went through most of my pregnancy alone and gave birth without him or his family being present. He later asked for a DNA test. I have now stopped his immigration process and I am focused on caring for my daughter, rebuilding my life and seeking legal guidance on separation or divorce. I know I was not perfect, but I do not believe a marriage can be saved by one person alone. I need advice on whether to let my mother help care for my baby, how to begin the divorce process, and whether it matters who files first.
