Iran Brands US Blockade of Strait of Hormuz ‘Act of War,’ Promises Retaliation
Iran’s foreign ministry has denounced the ongoing US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as an act of war and a breach of the recent ceasefire agreement. Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragchi accused the US Navy of unlawfully seizing the Iranian-flagged cargo ship TOUSKA, holding its crew hostage and violating international norms. Washington says the vessel was carrying sanctioned missile‐making chemicals from Beijing. In response, Tehran launched drone strikes on multiple US warships in the Sea of Oman. With ceasefire talks in Islamabad collapsing, both nations have reinforced blockades. The risk of renewed bombing campaigns now looms large.
