Starlomo Review: A Dramatic Look at Lagos Motor Park Life
Starlomo follows Ayotide, a young man who leaves his family’s food business to pursue music in Lagos. His dream takes a dark turn when he becomes trapped in an exploitative taxi ring. After losing his parents, he uncovers their hidden history as Fuji musicians and uses their old recordings to reclaim his family’s name. The film delivers drama, emotion, comedy and modest action rooted in the familiar world of Lagos motor parks. Lateef Adedimeji stands out as Dagogo, a feared motor park boss whose scenes with Kamo State’s Starlomo provide much of the film’s tension. KieKie also brings humour in a memorable domestic confrontation. The camera captures Lagos Island, motor parks, commercial drivers and life beneath bridges with authenticity. Although some outdoor scenes look harsh and the film does not have strong rewatch value, it is an enjoyable watch for viewers looking for a dramatic Nollywood story about ambition, survival and music.
