Oyo’s 300-Tonne-Per-Day Sugar Mill Reaches Commissioning Stage
A 300-tonne-per-day sugarcane mill in Iseyin, Oyo State, has reached the test-run and commissioning stage. The Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries facility was developed under the Nigeria Sugar Master Plan’s Backward Integration Programme. The project is intended to support local sugar production and reduce reliance on imports. The National Sugar Development Council invested about ₦2.2 billion in the project, while the Oyo State Government contributed about ₦850 million for completion works. The mill is expected to source sugarcane from about 1,000 local outgrower farmers, providing them with a stable market.
