Motorcyclists and Tricyclists Defy Police Movement Ban in Ado-Ekiti During Governorship Poll
Commercial motorcyclists and tricycle operators in Ado-Ekiti defied a police restriction on vehicle movements ahead of the governorship election. They continued ferrying passengers from early morning despite the midnight-to-6pm ban. Traders at Eleyeo Market, Oja Oba Erekesan and Oja Bisi also opened their stalls as voting was set to begin at 8:00am. Sellers said they risked spoilage and family hardship if they stayed home. One motorcyclist called the poll a walk-over for the incumbent and saw no reason to stop work. A tricyclist said he had to meet family needs and weekly contributions. Election materials arrived early in most wards and voter turnout was strong. A former senator urged INEC to fix long BVAS accreditation delays after spending 30 minutes capturing his details.
