The Promise of Matthew 7:7–12: Ask, Seek, Knock
In Matthew 7:7–12, Jesus encourages us to persist in prayer. He assures that everyone who asks receives, those who seek find, and to those who knock, doors will open. He illustrates this with a simple father–child analogy: if your child asks for bread, who would give a stone? If he asks for a fish, who would give a snake? All the more will our heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him. Finally, Jesus sums up the Law and the Prophets: treat others as you wish to be treated. This passage calls us to combine faith, persistence in prayer, and empathy in all we do.
