Army Refutes Allegations Over Cpl. Ude Jude’s Death in Katsina
The 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina State has rejected viral reports claiming internal sabotage caused Corporal Ude Jude’s death. Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations Capt. Abayomi Adisa said Jude enlisted in 2012, not as a lieutenant as widely reported. Adisa explained that the incident occurred outside the barracks at the Forward Operating Base in Funtua. On February 16 at around 8:30 p.m., Jude left his duty post to buy personal items. He was attacked during a dispute with a civilian and sustained stab wounds. The soldier received first aid and was evacuated to the brigade medical centre for ongoing treatment. Despite weeks of care, he collapsed at his residence on March 24 and was confirmed dead upon arrival back at the medical facility. The army has supported his family and provided all benefits due to next of kin. The brigade urged the public to rely on credible, official channels for accurate information and affirmed its commitment to transparency, personnel welfare and the pursuit of justice for those responsible.
