U.S. Says It Deported Over 3 Million Foreign Nationals in 15 Months

The United States says it has gone 15 consecutive months without releasing undocumented migrants into the country, while deporting more than three million foreign nationals under its tougher immigration enforcement drive. Officials said the measures include deportations of people convicted of violent offences, legal action against 88 people accused of fraudulently obtaining citizenship, and the removal of over 1.4 million ineligible people from public-assistance programmes. The administration has also paused visa processing for 75 countries, tightened scrutiny of voter rolls and introduced a revised citizenship test. U.S. authorities warned visa applicants and holders that overstays, fraud or criminal conduct could lead to visa revocation and deportation.
