NFF Board Resignation Is a Birthday Gift and a Chance to Reform Nigerian Football
The resignation of the Nigeria Football Federation executive committee felt like a perfect birthday gift to me. I am grateful for the goodwill messages I received and for the opportunities Nigeria has given me throughout my life. I commend Ibrahim Gusau and his board for stepping down. Their commitment to the game is acknowledged, but the poor performances of Nigeria’s national teams defined their tenure. In sport, winning teams remain the clearest measure of success. I also commend President Bola Tinubu and the National Sports Commission for confronting long-standing problems in Nigerian sports. With the fear of a FIFA ban addressed, Nigeria has an opportunity to reform football governance, clarify the NFF/NFA structure and appoint competent administrators who can build sustainable success across all sports.
