Flash Flood in Kirfi, Bauchi Claims Lives of Mother and Granddaughter
Heavy rain and strong winds hit Unguwar Katsinawa in Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State on June 10, 2026. A sudden flash flood swept through the community, destroying homes, livestock and valuables worth millions of naira. The floodwaters overwhelmed several houses at high speed, trapping and drowning 50-year-old Aisha Sagir and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu. Many other families have been left homeless by the deluge. The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the tragedy and said officers are on site to assess the damage and maintain order. Witnesses say the flood originated from a nearby community and caught residents completely off guard.
