Ooni, Queen Ashley and Prince Ademakinwa Join 2026 Olojo Festival Procession
The 2026 Olojo Festival has concluded in Ile-Ife, bringing together traditional rulers, cultural groups and residents for one of Yoruba land’s most significant annual celebrations. The festival began with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, observing a period of spiritual seclusion. After his return, activities included communal cleansing rites, the lighting of the Atupa Olojo lamp, prayers, sacrifices, drumming, dancing and traditional storytelling. Olori Ashley Afolashade Ogunwusi joined the Ooni at major events, including the prayer ceremony and the Ojo Ajoyo celebration. The final procession through Ile-Ife also featured Prince Ademakinwa and other members of the royal family. The Ooni said the festival remains a platform for unity, peace, cultural preservation and tourism development in Nigeria.
