Four Killed as Bus Collides with Stationary Truck on Ijebu-Ode Expressway
Four people died when a commercial bus rammed into a parked truck on the Ijebu-Imushin axis of the Ijebu-Ode–Ore Expressway in Ogun State around 11 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026. Preliminary findings by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attribute the crash to speeding. The blue MAN Diesel truck, owned by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, was being towed when its chain snapped and left it stranded on the road. A white Toyota Hiace bus then collided with the stationary vehicle. Rescue operatives arrived within eight minutes, but all four occupants of the bus—two men and two women—were confirmed dead at the scene. The FRSC has handed both vehicles over to the Nigeria Police Force’s Imushin Division for further investigation. The Ogun State FRSC commander has urged motorists to observe speed limits—especially at night—and to ensure that all towing equipment meets safety standards to avoid such tragedies.
