COOU Law Professor Nwabachili Alleges Unfair Dismissal, Vows Legal Challenge

COOU Law Professor Nwabachili Alleges Unfair Dismissal, Vows Legal Challenge — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Professor Chudi Charles Nwabachili of COOU has denied the gross misconduct allegations cited in a recent Governing Council announcement. He says due procedure was not followed and he has yet to receive any formal dismissal letter. He recalls a December 2023 petition accusing him of manipulating law students’ exam results. After an eleven-month suspension and investigation, he was cleared and reinstated on July 1, 2025, with no proof of wrongdoing. Feeling the faculty environment was toxic, he voluntarily resigned on May 5, 2026. He now plans to use all lawful means to seek redress for what he describes as a “monumental injustice.”

How do you think due process should be enforced in university dismissal cases like Professor Nwabachili's situation?

Na true talk! Any dismissal needs clear steps, fair panel, and proper chance for professor to defend.

It's odd that he hasn't received any formal dismissal letter despite serious misconduct allegations being publicized by the council.

I no see why everyone assumes the petition was valid; maybe there's more to their side of the story.

Faculty members should request clear written explanations from the council and seek independent review to avoid similar procedural confusion.
