Sanwo-Olu Commissions 250-Bed Hostel for Lagos Nursing Students
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned a new hostel at the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando. The facility can accommodate more than 250 students and includes training and registration spaces, solar power and 24-hour CCTV surveillance. The governor said the project is an investment in student welfare, nursing education and Lagos’ healthcare workforce. He urged the college management and students to maintain the facility properly. Sanwo-Olu also said the state is working to expand LASCON’s programmes towards awarding a full Bachelor of Nursing degree. Lagos is also seeking approval to establish a University of Medical Sciences to train more doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals. The college said the hostel will help it admit and train more nurses as Lagos and Nigeria face a shortage of skilled healthcare workers.
