Reforming State Police with Community Living, Mobile Patrols and Specialized Units
Police should live in the local community they serve rather than in barracks. This builds trust and reduces abuse since officers will know citizens by name and face. Patrols should be mobile. Teams of two to three officers can cover a wider area in vehicles, replacing long hours of standing in the sun and ensuring faster response times. Roles must be specialized. Traffic officers carry non-lethal equipment while a separate armed strike unit handles high-risk threats like kidnappers, terrorists and armed robbers.
