Much More: God’s Abounding Grace Over Sin
“Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” (Romans 5:20) Jesus’ cry of “Tetelestai!” from the cross means “It is finished.” In New Testament times, that word marked a paid debt. At Calvary, Jesus paid the final instalment on sin for everyone who seeks salvation. When we confess, our sins transfer to Christ and are paid in full. Then His righteousness credits our account. As 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21 explains, God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us so we might become His righteousness. Standing “in Christ,” we face God clothed in His perfect righteousness, not our own sin.
