How Obidients Are Undermining Their Own Movement

Obidients often fall prey to self-deception. They mirror their leader’s struggles by lacking logic and critical analysis, wasting effort on causes that yield no results. In recent bye-elections in Rivers, Kaduna, and Kano states, the ADC failed to secure any seats. Despite Peter Obi’s intense campaign support for LP and ADC candidates in Edo and Anambra, both parties recorded dismal performances. Obi even lost in his own polling unit to APGA and APC. The FCT municipal polls followed the same pattern. Despite top-notch campaigning and evening rallies, Obi’s party won no chairmanship or councillorship seats. Even his most visible ally lost at his local unit. Observers raised no doubts about these elections’ credibility. These outcomes suggest the opposition faces an uphill battle ahead of 2027. From a reliable source, the president has urged INEC to deliver the most credible polls as his legacy. Perhaps it is time for the opposition to rethink its strategy and avoid letting emotion trump sound analysis.

True, they seem swept up by loyalty. But perhaps they confuse unity with unquestioned imitation.

I think dem dey ignore deeper strategy, relying too much on slogans and risking the movement's credibility in the long run.

Groups should focus on evidence-based planning, set clear benchmarks, and regularly review tactics to avoid repeating unproductive patterns.
