Super Eagles Face Tough AFCON 2027 Qualification Battle After 3-0 Guinea-Bissau Defeat
Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their second AFCON 2027 qualifying match. Goals from Franculino, Mama Baldé and Álvaro Djaló put Guinea-Bissau top of Group L with six points, while Nigeria remain on three points. With Tanzania already assured of a place as co-hosts, only one qualification slot is available from the group. Nigeria have four matches left, including two games against Tanzania, an away trip to Madagascar and a decisive home fixture against Guinea-Bissau. The Super Eagles must produce strong results in their remaining games and could need a big win over Guinea-Bissau if the sides finish level on points, as head-to-head results are the first tiebreaker. Nigeria return to action in November for a must-win double-header against Tanzania.
