My Friend Mocked My Body Again, So I Hit Back Below the Belt
When I reconnected with an old university friend, I thought we had both moved past the jokes people made about my body in hostel. Back then, other students repeatedly mocked me over the size of my penis, and although he sometimes joined in, I assumed he understood how much it affected me. At a gathering years later, he brought it up again in front of other people and asked whether I could satisfy women. I snapped and insulted his mother and sister sexually. The mood immediately turned sour, and I left soon after. I know my response was harsh, but I do not think friendship gives anyone the right to reopen an insecurity they know has hurt you. I am no longer willing to sit quietly through body-shaming disguised as banter.
